Description: City of Piqua, OH located in the west central portion of the state in the northern Miami Valley region (Dayton MSA), is accepting applications for the position of City Planner whose duties are performed independently under the general direction of the Community and Economic Development Director. The City Planner must develop a thorough knowledge of the community characteristics and facilitate stakeholder participation in the development of studies, plans, policies and strategies, and the implementation of the same, in support of advancing community goals and objectives The City Planner will perform tasks necessary to administering land use codes and related permitting and inspection activities, retrieve and analyze data, prepare presentations, report to commissions, boards, committees, stakeholders and the general public in land use decisions and public policy matters, conducting planning studies, maintain maps, and performing other related duties as required.
Requirements: This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in urban planning, community planning, or related field and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in strategic planning, project management, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience working in a local government planning or similar role. Employee must be proficient in the use of Windows based computer operating systems and software and geographic information system (GIS) software applications. Ability to read and understand site plans, survey plats, subdivision plans and construction drawings required. Must possess and retain a valid driver’s license and be insurable through the City’s insurance carrier. Position Type / Hours: Permanent, Full Time Wage Rate: Salary is DOQE.
