Regional Planner II – Transportation Coordination Planner The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (www.mvrpc.org) is accepting applications for the Regional Planner II – Transportation Coordination Planner. MVRPC serves an innovative multi-county region of approximately one million people in the area surrounding Dayton (southwest Ohio). As a Regional Planning Commission (RPC), the agency provides planning services for members, functions as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Dayton area and is the designated Areawide Water Quality planning agency for a five county area.

Under general supervision, implements the Greater Region Mobility Initiative (GRMI) by marketing, networking, organizing and facilitating meetings, overseeing mobility management functions, and managing the FTA’s Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities program (Section 5310) in the nine-county GRMI region. Works with team members to support the Sustainable Planning department’s active transportation and environmental sustainability projects. Job responsibilities include convening stakeholder meetings consisting of transportation providers, social service representatives, seniors, people with disabilities, other non-drivers and other parties interested in transportation issues. Develops/maintains a strong network of stakeholders who actively participate on the GRMI Council. Keeps abreast of local issues and national best practices as a resource for stakeholders. Provides leadership and direction to the regional mobility managers and stakeholders in meeting goals and implementing strategies outlined in the Greater Miami Valley Region Coordinated Transportation Plan. Collaborates with the Ohio Department of Transportation and other state agencies to fulfill requirements of GRMI. Oversees the updates of the Greater Miami Valley Region Coordinated Transportation Plan. Manages the FTA 5310 funding solicitations process for the nine-county region. Provides agency assistance with active transportation and environmental sustainability projects. Performs other related duties (attend night or weekend meetings) in support of agency programs as needed. Demonstrated experience with organizational skills, effective interpersonal skills (verbal and written), decision-making, experience in leading diverse teams, project management, strong meeting planning and facilitation skills, awareness and interest in the transportation needs of non-drivers including seniors and people with disabilities, interest in existing and emerging transportation technologies and trends, proficiency in MS software, and experience with Adobe Suite and Arc GIS. The successful candidate must possess a current valid driver’s license as routine travel is required. Able and willing to attend evening or weekend meetings.

Qualifications: Master's degree with a minimum of six (6) years of planning, human services, social work, education or a related field working with a diverse group of people including transit service providers, social service agencies and other nonprofit and government staff. Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications.
