Manager, Institute for Livable and Equitable Communities The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (www.mvrpc.org) is accepting applications for the Manager, Institute for Livable and Equitable Communities. MVRPC serves an innovative multi-county region of approximately one million people in the area surrounding Dayton (southwest Ohio). As a Regional Planning Commission (RPC), the agency provides planning services for members, functions as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Dayton area and is the designated Areawide Water Quality planning agency for a five county area. Job responsibilities include oversight and administration of the Institute for Livable and Equitable Communities, researching and assembling data, leading community engagement processes to facilitate high-level strategic plans focused on equity. Responsible for launching programs and transforming systems that create an environment where people of all ages, races, incomes and abilities can thrive. Establish partnerships and relationships with key governmental, institutional, and community stakeholders. Manage and secure alternative funding for the Institute. Responsible for coordination of a long-term, multi-faceted effort to address nine domains to enhance livability and equity in communities: Built Environment; Outdoor Spaces & Buildings; Transportation; Housing; Social Participation; Respect and Social Inclusion; Civic Participation; Communication; Community Support and Health Services; and Education. Job responsibilities also include supervision of the Greater Region Mobility Initiative (GRMI) project for FTA’s Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities program (Section 5310) in the nine-county GRMI region. Collaborates with the Ohio Department of Transportation and other state agencies to fulfill requirements of GRMI. Oversees the updates of the Greater Miami Valley Region Coordinated Transportation Plan. Supervises the FTA 5310 funding solicitations process for the nine-county region. Works with team members to support transit agency coordination, human services transportation planning and assistance with the Sustainable Planning department’s active transportation projects and with the Regional Planning Department’s ongoing research. Performs other related duties (attend night or weekend meetings) in support of agency programs as needed. Demonstrated experience with organizational skills, effective interpersonal skills (verbal and written), decision-making, experience in leading diverse teams, project management, strong meeting planning and facilitation skills, familiarity with planning and policy issues related to physical built environment, leadership of broad community change in areas impacting equity, livability or social justice. Ability to develop collaborative, productive, and respectful relationships with leaders of key institutions and groups, including those in communities of color, immigrant and refugee communities, business, and philanthropy. Experience with fundraising and securing contracts/grants. Proficiency in MS software, and experience with Adobe Suite. The successful candidate must possess a current valid driver’s license. Able and willing to attend evening or weekend meetings. Qualifications: Master’s degree in planning, administration, communication, business, philanthropy, education or related field. Six years minimum experience in a public environment, transportation, public transit and regional planning highly desirable. Demonstrated experience with project management, facilitation, leading a staff and development of a new program in the areas of livable and equitable communities. Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications.
