The Appalachian region is full of tradition and a rich cultural history. This conference will discuss ways in which small rural communities can address creative placemaking in a way that is socially and geographically relevant to them. This conference hopes to serve West Virginia, northern Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, eastern Ohio, western New York, eastern Pennsylvania, western Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Topics include building arts in rural and isolated areas, creative placemaking in post-industrial communities, mapping assets, and protecting the ethos of a community.
