Zoning Enforcement Officer

Orange Township

Orange Township, Delaware County, Ohio is seeking a qualified Zoning Enforcement Officer. This full time position is appointed by the Board Township of Trustees and serves under the supervision of the Planning and Zoning Director, Township Administrator and Board of Township Trustees. This position performs a variety of administrative tasks in addition to the enforcement of the Township zoning regulations. This is a full time, non-exempt, non-bargaining unit and at-will appointment.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Issuing zoning permits and inspecting properties within the unincorporated area of Orange Township. Ensuring zoning complaints are thoroughly investigated. Performing administrative responsibilities and enforcement duties related to the Orange Township Zoning Resolution and Chapter 519 of the Ohio Revised Code. Conducting inspections of properties for compliance with applicable zoning laws and regulations. Removing illegal signage in the public right-of-way. Reviewing zoning applications for compliance. Assisting with community planning efforts and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan.

Qualifications for this position include: Computer technology and graphic presentation skills preferred. Must possess a State of Ohio Driver's License and acceptable driving record. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Satisfactory completion of a background investigation, drug screening, physical examination and PRADCO assessment. Depositing a bond, in accordance with Section 519.161 of the Ohio Revised Code, with the Township Fiscal Officer before entering upon the duties of this position.

High school diploma along with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in planning, zoning, architecture, environmental science and/or community development. A Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, City and Regional Planning, Architecture, Environmental Sciences, or similar field of study is preferred and may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which allows the applicant to meet the essential job functions and responsibilities. Experience working with local government is preferred. Experience with ESRI ArcGIS or similar Geographic Information Systems software and Adobe Creative Software is preferred. Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver's License and acceptable driving record. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Must satisfactorily complete a drug screen, physical examination, background investigation and PRADCO assessment. Must be eligible for fidelity bond.
