Code Enforcement Officer

Liberty Township

Under supervision of the Director of Planning & Zoning this position will be responsible for enforcing the Liberty Township Zoning Resolution, updating the Zoning Resolution as needed, reviewing site and construction plans, conducting field inspections of new and existing construction and properties to ensure compliance with the Liberty Township Zoning Resolution and all applicable codes and regulations and administering the nuisance abatement process. Serves as staff representative to the Township Board of Zoning Appeals at regular meetings; prepares and processes all cases filed before the Township Board of Zoning Appeals, coordinates review with other government agencies, and maintains accurate records of all cases. Maintains the Zoning Permit software and database, zoning web site, data gathering, and assists the public.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Construction Management, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Architecture or related field; or Associates Degree of Applied Science – Construction Technology, Planning, Law Enforcement, or related field and two years Code Enforcement or construction related experience; or High School Diploma and four years Code Enforcement or construction related experience. Professional certifications in property maintenance and code enforcement preferred. Good customer service skills are required.
