Planning Administrator

City of Mentor

The City of Mentor is seeking a Planning Administrator to provide professional and administrative work directing the activities in planning, zoning, and development. Responsibilities include the supervision, assignment and scheduling of a professional planning staff, attendance at the Municipal Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings and some City Council meetings. Bachelor’s degree required with major coursework in urban planning, public or business administration, or a related field along with ten (10) years of relevant work experience. Certification as an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred at time of hire, must be attained within two years of date of hire. The successful candidate should have considerable knowledge of management principles and practices of planning, urban design, zoning and subdivision ordinances or an equivalent combination of education and training to perform job requirements. Knowledge of software applications such as CAD and GIS helpful. Annual salary range: $68,634 - $107,297 (DOQ) along with a comprehensive benefit package.
