The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (www.mvrpc.org) is accepting applications for the Director of Strategy and Engagement. MVRPC serves an innovative multi-county region of approximately one million people in the area surrounding Dayton (southwest Ohio). As a Regional Planning Commission (RPC), the agency provides planning services for members, functions as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Dayton area and is the designated Areawide Water Quality planning agency for a five county area.

Under general supervision, Director of Strategy and Engagement leads agency efforts in the areas of stakeholder relations; regional projects & policy; reputation management; and public outreach and engagement. The Director leads regional projects and policy resulting in the advancement of commuter services including Rideshare, public transit, biking and walking; acts as liaison for collaborative regional initiatives; and works with Executive Director to track legislation and policy. Job duties also include enhancing the brand of MVRPC through well executed strategic communications. The Director ensures that agency members and the general public are informed of MVRPC’s leadership, programs and services; delivers concise, professional, and effective communications utilizing both digital and traditional media; and creates and implements equitable public outreach and engagement initiatives. Demonstrated knowledge in providing professional stakeholder relations communications, managing regional projects & policy, community leadership, public involvement programs that demonstrate transparency throughout agency planning; manages environmental justice and equity requirements in a regional planning environment, ability to work with local jurisdictions, partnering agencies, regional stakeholders, and the general public. Proficient in the use of various communications software, web-based applications and social platforms. The successful candidate must possess a current valid driver’s license and is willing to attend evening and weekend meetings.

Qualifications: A Master’s degree is preferred in communications, public administration, planning or related field. A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible leadership with supervisory experience is preferred.
