Economic Development Manager
City of Fairfield
Assist the Director of Development Services in retention and expansion of existing businesses, recruitment of new businesses and general economic development functions for the City.
Examples of Duties
Initiate programs and incentives to attract and recruit new enterprises to Fairfield and to retain or expand present businesses. Identify and utilize federal, state, county and city incentives.
Develop and maintain current databases of commercial lots, buildings, properties and resources for sale or lease in the City. Identify emerging areas and opportunities.
Develop and maintain computer databases of commercia/industrial prospects as potential relocatees to the City. Conduct analyses of likely targeted prospects in a focused way based on area demographics.
Develop marketing materials on City assets and resources: financial, residential, commercial, educational, recreational, cultural and natural.
Develop and implement public relations and marketing campaigns; broadly expose City to Fairfield businesses and government initiatives via printed and broadcast media.
Create partnerships with federal, state and county development officials and area Chambers of Commerce to take advantage of broader resource base.
Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field; Master's Degree preferred. Experience developing successful marketing programs and knowledge of governmental incentive programs and enterprise zones. Working knowledge of and experience in community economic development; program and project management experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Computer literacy in and experience with word processing, spreadsheets, database and desktop publishing. Valid driver's license.
