Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC)

The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) is accepting applications for the Planner II position. The Planner II is a junior level position and MVRPC is looking for a well-rounded planner who has a good combination of education, experiences, attitude, passion, and is ready to contribute his/her talents to our diverse regional and community planning projects. MVRPC serves an innovative multi-county region of approximately one million people in the area surrounding Dayton, OH (southwest Ohio). As a Regional Planning Commission (RPC), the agency provides planning services for members and also functions as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), a designation that provides federal funding for planning, rideshare, purchase of replacement vans and buses, and bridge, roadway, and multiuse trail construction. The Planner II is part of the Department of Community and Regional Planning team comprised of planners and GIS professionals. As a member of the team, the Planner II will engage in: conducting long- and short-term regional and community planning and GIS initiatives; providing planning and data services to local communities in the Dayton metropolitan region for their successful planning and policy development efforts; and supporting the agency’s transportation planning and programming activities as a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). MVRPC is looking for a candidate who possesses: 1) general knowledge, principles, and practices of regional and community planning; 2) practical experiences in conducting regional and community land use planning; 3) effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills in working with team members and the general public; 4) critical thinking and analytical skills for logical and strategic problem solving and decision making processes; 5) strong research, data analysis, data visualization, graphic design, and writing skills; and 6) proficiency in the use of MS Office, Adobe CS, GIS, and Tableau. Minimum qualifications for this Planner II position include: Bachelor's Degree in planning, urban studies, geography, or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experiences, not including internships. Master’s Degree and/or AICP Certification is a plus. Starting salary to be determined DOQ.
