COMMUNITY PLANNER The Planner will work with our Ann Arbor-based planning-based team primarily on projects in the public sector. The successful candidate will have an interest in comprehensive planning, zoning ordinance preparation, planning commission advisory services (site plan reviews, special use approvals, etc.), and community engagement. Work will also include incorporating planning solutions to challenges such as downtown and corridor revitalization, redevelopment and brownfield sites, affordable housing and income inequality, and resiliency planning. A strong commitment to effective community engagement and constituency-building is critical. Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials • Strong communications skills--verbal, written, and especially graphic. • Ability to communicate persuasively to a variety of audiences—technical, policymaking, and the public. • Ability to engage effectively with a wide variety of clients and stakeholders. • Experience with the production of planning reports and documents and thorough knowledge and familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office programs. • Demonstrated research and analysis experience including demographic, housing, and economic analysis • Understanding of land use and zoning strategies. • Interest in finding integrated solutions that incorporate placemaking, economic and environmental sustainability, resilience. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Demonstrated responsibility, maturity, and commitment to a team-driven environment. • Willingness to travel to client meetings (day and/or evenings) Education and Experience An undergraduate or graduate degree in Urban Design or Planning, - A minimum of four years of relevant experience. AICP certification or AICP Candidate preferred.
