APA CLE / Call for Volunteers!

The Cleveland Section of APA Ohio is looking for interested members to join one of our four subcommittees to assist the section in programming membership events. The four subcommittees are listed below with a description of their mission and responsibilities.

• Professional Development (meetings are as needed)
  • Organize education seminars and events
  • Manage AICP CM requests and submissions
  • Develop partnerships with affiliated organizations
  • Curate topics and articles for the quarterly Ohio Planner News

• Membership Engagement/Student Outreach (meetings are bi-monthly)
  • Organize social and educational events (in partnership with the Professional Development committee)
  • New member outreach
  • Organize volunteer/service events
  • Provide a mix of events throughout the year (i.e. panels, bike rides, tours, socials, etc.)
  • Coordinate and support the student section of CSU APA
  • Run the local section social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter)

• WePlan CLE (meetings are monthly prior to the event; could be more frequent as event approaches)
  • Identify yearly theme and relationship with local planning trends
  • Create partnerships with planning/non-planning organizations for events
  • Organize WePlan event series across the determined time frame
  • Identify marketing opportunities beyond traditional APA outreach

• Planning and Zoning Workshop (monthly starting in April until November)
  • Plan and implement the annual Planning and Zoning Workshop for professional and citizen planners. This includes:
    • Identify a workshop location and theme, and keynote speaker
    • Sessions topics and tracks
    • Issue a call for sessions, select sessions, coordinate with speakers, send thank-you to speakers
    • Publicize registration, prepare materials for the workshop (nametags, website, signage, etc.)
    • Identify and secure sponsorships for Planning and Zoning workshop
    • Volunteer and help the event run smoothly the day of the workshop!
