Planner/Senior Planner, Liberty Township, Butler County, Ohio

Liberty Township, Butler County, Ohio is a progressive community with approximately 44k residents. A significant amount of new development has been occurring over the past decade and is expected to continue into the future. While Liberty Township has been a state leader in new residence permits for many years, significant commercial development is also occurring. This position offers a unique opportunity to be closely involved on a variety of projects regarding new development.
Under supervision of the Director of Planning and Zoning, this position will perform a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical, and professional work, in the long and short range planning programs of the township related to the development and implementation of land use and related township plans and policies. Responsibilities include reviewing development, site and construction plans, and conducting field inspections of new and existing construction projects and individual properties to ensure compliance with the Township Zoning Resolution and applicable codes. Serves as staff representative to the Township Zoning Commission at regular meetings; reviews and processes all cases filed before the Township Zoning Commission, coordinates review with other government agencies, and maintains accurate records of all cases. Responsibilities also include maintaining the zoning permit software and database, zoning web site, data gathering, and assisting the public. The Senior level position also includes the supervision of the Zoning Specialist, Zoning Inspector and Administrative Assistant.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, or closely related field is required. The Senior level position requires four years of experience in local government planning, but a Masters Degree may substitute for two-years of experience. Good customer service skills are required.
