We Plan CLE | Port of Cleveland Jane's Walk

Downtown Cleveland

Most great cities since the beginning of civilization were founded on waterways. They served as important navigation and areas for trade and commerce. That is still true today however planners sometimes overlook their importance to the overall economy of a city and region.

Join us for a Jane's Walk tour of the Port of Cleveland at 3:00 PM on July 22. The Port of Cleveland is one of the Largest Ports on the Great Lakes. It provides over 20,000 jobs, $3 Billion in economic activity while receiving 13M tons of cargo and 900 vessels per year.  The Port was founded in 1825. It sits on a total 125 acres with 80 acres devoted to a general cargo terminal and the other 45 acres contains a bulk terminal that can unload 5,200 tons of iron per hour!!! While its primary mission is maritime activity it also provides economic financing to region projects issuing $3.5 B in bonds that leverage $5.2 B in investment and is active in environmental and recreation planning.
