Community Development Planner

City of Midland

Under general supervision of the Director of Planning and Community Development, provides technical planning support to ensure that long range planning and development policies of the City are satisfactorily met. Conducts useful and accurate research, review, analysis and coordination of development related requests and undertaking long range planning studies. This position fosters overall improvement of the community by effectively administering the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and various City housing programs. The incumbent will be regularly required to attend evening meetings and occasional participation in special events at night and on weekends. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Planning or a related field. Two years experience in Planning or related field; Any combination of education, training and experience determined by the City to provide the required knowledge skills and abilities equivalent to those attained through requirements #1 and #2 above; Knowledge of GIS and application to planning work; Demonstrated proficiency with standard office productivity software programs.
