Community Development Specialist

The City of Wyoming, Ohio is a vibrant, historical, and forward-thinking community located in Greater Cincinnati that is accepting resumes for the full-time position of Community Development Specialist. This position works closely with and under the supervision of the Community Development Director. Responsibilities include: the administration of the City’s planning, zoning, building, historic preservation, and property maintenance codes, including processing building and zoning permits; representing the City in community and economic development activities, including implementation of the master plan; researching and preparing plans and reports for various City boards, commissions, and committees; performing zoning, property maintenance, sidewalk, stormwater, and other field inspections/investigations; and other special projects related to community development.

The ideal candidate will have strong collaborative and analytical skills, solid written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work well with the public and other staff members, and take direction and initiative as needed. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in community/economic development, public administration, planning, construction management, architecture, or related field and a bachelor’s degree in public administration, planning, architecture, or similar discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Must be able: to enter and navigate construction sites, excavations, and tight spaces at various phases of construction; observe, identify, and effectively communicate deficiencies to others orally and in writing; climb up and down ladders up to 32 feet; and lift and carry up to 30 pounds. The successful candidate must pass an in-person interview, physical, drug screen, background investigation, and have a valid driver’s license.

This position offers a salary range of $50,894-$79,445/year and an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, OPERS pension with employer pick-up, vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, longevity pay, optional deferred compensation, employee wellness and assistance programs, and recreation center membership.
