Regional Equity Initiative Project Manager

The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) is accepting resumes for the Regional Equity Initiative Project Manager position to lead successful development and implementation of equity initiatives region wide and in collaboration with our members and strategic partners. The selected candidate will lead implementation of the Work Plan for the Institute for Livable and Equitable Communities (https://www.mvrpc.org/regional-initiatives/institute-livable-equitable-communities) among other duties.

The Regional Equity Initiative Project Manager focuses the majority of their time on the Regional Equity Initiative (REI) of the MVRPC Institute for Livable and Equitable Communities. The REI coordinates research; leads robust community engagement processes; secures grants and funding; leverages the region’s resources for collective impact; and creates the opportunities to implement strategies and projects to advance livable & equitable communities. With this position, there is an intentional focus on racial and economic equity, launching programs and transforming systems that create an environment where people of all ages, races, incomes, and abilities can thrive.

The Regional Equity Initiative Manager will serve as the Agency’s Title VI leader and expert on diversity, inclusion and equity, responsible for complex projects relating to social justice and systemic inequities. The Regional Equity Initiative Project Manager will provide technical guidance for internal and external equity, diversity, and inclusion-based initiatives.

Desired skills and experience:

• Passion for racial and social equity, an understanding of systems level change, and an ability to effectively communicate the role of the MVRPC’s work to diverse audiences.

• Demonstrates confidence and knowledge on race and social equity issues, community best practices and the consequences from all perspectives.

• Experience working in a professional or personal capacity towards broad community change in areas impacting diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice.

• Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative, productive, and respectful relationships with leaders of key institutions and groups, including those in communities of color, immigrant and refugee communities, local governments, non-profits, business, and philanthropy.

• Strong knowledge of administration and fiscal reporting, community focused and data driven strategies and tactics essential to establishing livable and equitable communities.

• Demonstrated interest in grant writing, fundraising, and working with donors.

• Effective communicator and networker.

The successful candidate must possess a current valid driver’s license; able and willing to attend evening or weekend meetings.

Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in planning, social sciences, public administration, or a related field; with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in public policy, community initiatives, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred qualifications include: Master’s degree in planning or related field; with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in public policy, sociology, diversity, inclusion, public transit or regional planning. Demonstrated experience with leading projects and programs in the field.
