Neighborhood Development Specialist

Pay Range: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 Annually

Examples of Duties

Under general direction, performs major daily and project/program based administrative duties. Recommends and administers divisional/departmental policies and procedures. Prepares regular and special reports related to divisional/departmental operations. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Business/Public Relations or closely related field from a four-year accredited college or university is required. Two years of full time paid expeience in government or private industry office administration is required. (Substitution: Two years of full time experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking.) Must be able to operate a personal computer with Microsoft Office Suites.

Additional Departmental Duties
 
Works under direction in the Housing Development Office of the Division of Neighborhood Development with a team of community development professionals. The work promotes and finances affordable housing and related neighborhood development projects.
 
Responsibilities include the structuring of City loans and grants as part of financing for single family, multi-family and mixed use real estate developments; with a focus on affordable housing.  Duties include evaluating program applications and managing disbursements. This includes project underwriting, contract development, compliance documentation, coordinating inspections, evaluating progress budgets and maintenance of records and files.
 
Manages coordination with other departments and organizations as necessary (e.g. City Planning, Building and Housing, Law Department, Office of Sustainability, and Community Development Corporations).
