The Economic Development Planning Specialist assists in the planning, design, coordination, review and management of the City’s economic development and physical land use strategies and programs.
The Economic Development Planning Specialist is a crucial role in driving community growth and prosperity. The ED Planning Specialist responsibilities encompasses five key areas:
1. Physical Land Planning:
• Developing comprehensive land use plans that guide the growth and development of a community.
• Advise and assist in the creation of zoning regulations, subdivision ordinances, and other planning documents.
2. Boards and Commissions:
• Serving on or advise various boards and commissions related to economic development, planning, and zoning.
• Collaborating with these bodies to establish policies and guidelines that promote economic growth.
3. GIS (Geographic Information Systems):
• Utilizing GIS technology to analyze spatial data and create maps that inform planning decisions.
• Identifying areas with potential for development, assessing infrastructure needs, and evaluating land use patterns.
4. Grant Writing and Management:
• Identifying and securing grant funding to support economic development projects.
• Preparing grant proposals, managing grant budgets, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
5. Project Management:
• Overseeing the implementation of economic development projects, from inception to completion.
• Coordinating with various stakeholders, managing timelines, and ensuring projects meet their objectives.
