City of Barberton Employment Opportunity: Assistant Planning Director
The City of Barberton is accepting resumes for Assistant Planning Director.
Our legacy community has an immense history with 16 identified city neighborhoods, a historic downtown, direct connections to the canal-era towpath trail, and 12-acre natural kettle lake, Lake Anna. In addition to a neighborhood-based planning approach, the City is focusing on historical preservation efforts, in addition to rewriting the development/zoning code for the City.
Under general direction, assists in managing the Office of the Planning Commission to include supervision to staff and preparation of department budgets. Assists Planning Director in a variety of supervisory, administrative and professional work in the areas of long range comprehensive planning, zoning, community development, historic preservation, urban design, marketing, grant writing and public presentations.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in geography, urban studies, urban planning, project management, public administration or similar field or four (4) years governmental planning experience required (or combination). Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio Driver’s License and must be insurable under the City’s insurance policy.

Starting salary: $50,491.96.
