The Role of the Citizen Planner

This module will explore how and why to have an updated comprehensive plan as well as the day-to-day mechanics of implementing the plan through subdivision reviews, zoning recommendations and even the capital improvement program. The module will also cover current trends in planning and how planning commissions interact with other boards such as the zoning commission, BZA and specialty boards like tree commissions and architectural review boards.

Ethics in Planning

This module will focus on ethical principles as applied to planning commissions. It will explore common ethical dilemmas faced by planning commissions such as conflicts of interest and ex-parte contacts. It will also explore emerging issues of social justice related to planning and the work of planning commissions.

Site Plan Review
