Senior Planner

City of Dublin

The City of Dublin, Ohio is seeking a Senior Planner to ensure high-quality commercial and residential development and improvements are consistent with the City’s development codes, objectives and standards, and to develop, manage, interpret, and administer the Dublin Community Plan.

This professional position uses advanced knowledge of planning and zoning principles and practices to lead or provide significant contributions to complex, politically sensitive, and/or special planning projects requiring highly sophisticated technical research and analysis. Serves as a team leader, project coordinator, and/or primary resource for a variety of specialized planning functions. Participates in the development of, and updates to comprehensive and long-range plans, development codes, and associated policies and programs. Supervises and evaluates assigned planning and support team members.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or closely related field and a minimum of 8 years of planning experience, including 4 or more years of progressively responsible and successful performance in a Planner II or equivalent role (Master’s Degree in Planning or closely related field will be considered the equivalent of two years of professional experience.) American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification preferred.

A candidate’s knowledge, abilities and skills, should include but not be limited to demonstrated effectiveness in leading planning projects and working with City leadership, City Council, Boards and Commissions, and community leaders; advanced knowledge of urban planning, land use, and design concepts, methods, principles, and practices; knowledge of management principles, concepts, methods, practices, and strategies; possess excellent collaboration skills; ability to assemble and organize and analyze relevant information; write and present recommendation on a variety of planning, development, zoning and related matters; and possess technical skills in software applications such as Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGIS.
