Stark County Regional Planning Commission (SCRPC) is accepting applications for a GIS Analyst/Field Specialist. This position is highly technical in nature and requires a candidate with existing GIS knowledge and skills in order to perform the tasks efficiently. This position also requires an individual with a high level of attention to detail and has the ability to work both independently and as part of a geographically diverse team. Employee will provide general and technical support services as necessary. The employee works under the direct supervision of the GIS Manager and Executive Director.
CHARACTERISTIC WORK:
The GIS Analyst/Field Specialist compiles, manipulates and analyzes geospatial data. In this role, ArcGIS software will be used to gather and analyze data to develop maps. Additionally, the GIS Analyst may provide GIS training or assistance to other organization members and supports all GIS functions for each department at SCRPC.
Other Job Activities/Functions:
• GPS field work collection of utility infrastructure including, storm, sanitary and water systems, etc. Previous GPS collection experience a plus.
• Performs geographic data digitizing, data development, data file management, data capture and tabular data integration into geospatial databases.
• Assist with development and maintenance of GIS data resources to be utilized for public access of geographic data.
• Produce accurate maps and other representations of data for public land use and field work activity.
• Research and verify geographic data
• May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physical demanding circumstances.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Planning or Computer Science or related field required. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience with GIS concepts applications, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical knowledge of ArcPro, Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and geodatabases.
